Small-group courses and workshops in a real working studio, designed around creativity, confidence and individual support.
A different kind of creative space
The Making Place combines music and media facilities with experienced youth-work support. Young people aged 10–18 can explore music production, recording, podcasting and filmmaking in small groups where they have time to try ideas, develop skills and create work they are proud of.
Delivery is practical, project-based and shaped around each group — serious about creative quality without making the environment feel intimidating.
Our purpose
Bath is often seen as an affluent city, but that overall picture can hide pockets of deprivation and families under financial pressure. Specialist creative opportunities can be expensive, leaving some young people priced out.
What we offer
From weekly home-education programmes to focused workshops and individual support, each offer keeps group size small and participation active.

The strongest evidence is what the people using the space noticed and valued.
“I liked that it was a small group so we all got help when we needed it.”
“We weren't just watching, we were doing it ourself.”
“It is so hard to find a structured small group where a child with anxiety or low confidence can both learn and feel part of a group.”
“Very youth led, a really safe space, great equipment and resources.”
The studio
The space feels purposeful and exciting, while the delivery stays relaxed enough for young people to experiment, make mistakes and find the role that works for them.
Real equipment, understandable delivery
The studio can support full-band recording, music production, podcasts, voiceovers and film content. The equipment raises ambition; the youth-work approach makes it accessible.
Young people can move between creative and technical roles, work independently or collaborate, and see how a project develops from an idea into a finished piece.
